Getting started as an independent practitioner

Independent practitioners receive a private practice area, public booking options, appointment and client management, and any clinical modules enabled for their account.

Apply to join

From the platform home page, choose Apply to join, select Independent practitioner, and submit your contact and professional details. The platform team reviews every application. If approved, it creates the practitioner account and provides the sign-in instructions.

Independent practitioners use my.virtualclinic.online. Although they share that portal address, their clients and clinical data remain scoped to the individual practice.

Complete your profile

Open Profile after signing in. In Public profile, you can:

  • upload or remove a profile photo and cover image;
  • add a bio, languages, years of experience, location, website, and social links;
  • claim an available Public handle such as @yourname; and
  • turn Public visibility on or off.

The public handle works only while Public visibility is on. Turning it on also lets clients you already message call you, if you separately turn on Allow client audio calls or Allow client video calls below the visibility toggle; turning visibility off keeps you reachable only by direct link and clients cannot call you. Visibility is self-service; you do not need the platform team to change it. Keep Public visibility off while you prepare the profile, then enable it when you are ready to be discovered through Find Care. See Direct calls for the complete permission matrix, incoming-call behavior, and notifications.

Prepare for bookings

Set working hours on My Schedule, then copy the direct link from Appointments → Copy Booking Link. See Your booking page and Managing your schedule.

When your public profile is ready, you can also create safe public articles in Blog. See Blog publications before publishing; posts and images must never contain client-identifying or private medical information.

Clinical tools can vary because modules are enabled per practice. If a navigation item described in these guides is missing, contact the platform team about enabling that module.
