Installing Virtual Clinic

Virtual Clinic is available as an installable progressive web app (PWA). It opens in its own window and adds an icon to your device without requiring an app-store download. Native Android, iPhone, Windows, macOS, and Linux packages shown on the download page are still marked Coming soon.

Install from the download page

  1. Open /download in the browser you normally use.
  2. In the Web (PWA) card, select Install app when the browser offers the installation prompt.
  3. Confirm the browser's prompt.

When Virtual Clinic detects that it is already running as an installed app, the card displays Installed.

Install from your browser

Some browsers, including browsers that do not expose an automatic install prompt, require a manual action. Open the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home Screen. The wording and menu location vary by browser and device.

If no option appears, make sure you are using a supported current browser, that the site is open over HTTPS, and that it is not already installed.

Opening the installed app

Launch Virtual Clinic from the new home-screen, Start-menu, applications, or dock icon. The installed app uses the same account, provider URLs, permissions, and security controls as the browser site.

Updates and offline behavior

The PWA checks for updated application files. When a new version is ready, a banner says A new version is available; select Reload to apply it. You can dismiss the banner and continue temporarily, and a later update can show a new banner.

Installation does not make Virtual Clinic an offline clinical system. Some application resources may be cached, but signing in, loading current records, sending messages, submitting forms, booking, and video calls require a working network connection. Do not rely on cached screens as a current medical record.

Troubleshooting installation

  • Reload the page and check the browser menu for a manual installation option.
  • Remove an old installation before attempting to install it again.
  • Confirm that private/incognito mode is not blocking installation or storage.
  • If an update appears stuck, close other Virtual Clinic windows and select Reload from the update banner again.
